ALOO (POTATO) MASALA

This dish is very simple and easy to cook. This version of Aloo Masala is styled as North Indian. I have not used garlic here. You can have it along with Chapathi, Parantha or Poori. Give it a try and I am sure you will love it.

Materials

  • 3-4 Boiled Aloo ( Potatoes) Medium Sized,
  • 2 Tomatoes Medium Sized, finely chopped
  • 2 Onions Medium Sized, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp Mustard
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds (Jeera)
  • 1 Green chilli slit into two
  • 1 inch Ginger (Adrak) finely chopped
  • Curry leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric (Haldi) Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Coriander (Dhania) Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Garam Masala Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Dried mango (Amchoor) powder
  • 1 tsp Chilli Powder Adjust according to spice preferance.
  • 1 tsp Oil
  • Coriander Leaves For Garnishing

Instructions

  • Heat oil in a kadai.

  • Add mustard and cumin seeds and allow it to splutter.

  • Add chopped onions and saute till they become translucent.

  • Now add ginger, green chilli and curry leaves, and saute till the raw smell of ginger goes.

  • Add the chopped tomatoes.

  • Add all the spice powders and salt and cook till the tomatoes turn mushy.

  • To this add 1 cup of water and allow it to boil.

  • Now peel the boiled potatoes, mash it and add to the onion tomato mixture. Mix it well.

  • Cook in medium flame for eight to ten minutes, briefly stirring the mixture in between. Switch off the flame. Now your Aloo (Potato) masala curry is ready to be served. Serve it along with Chapathi or Poori. It can also be served with steamed rice.
