Chow Chow Masala is a yummy, versatile side dish made with Chow Chow. It is a type of squash, available throughout the year. It is quite famous in South India, and it is also referred to as ‘Bangalore Kathrikai’. Chow Chow is easily available, and it is very healthy. And there are a lot of different dishes one can make using this vegetable. But of course since it is not a vegetable like potato, or ladies finger, Chow Chow is often not everyone’s favourite. However, with just the right dish, even Chow Chow can become very attractive. And this is where this particular chow chow masala comes in.

Usually, it is quite common for people to make kootu and thogaiyal with Chow Chow. But as I already mentioned, not everyone finds this enjoyable. Especially, the younger population is not the biggest fan. This dish is extremely easy and quick to make, and it can be served with rice, chapathi and/or dosa. This versatility of the dish is just another reason why this is a very good choice for a quick meal.

The entire credit for making this dish goes to this video. To prepare the dish, you need very little ingredients, and no special equipment. Don’t skip out on adding kasuri methi leaves in the end. This gives the masala a very restaurant like taste, with very little effort. For such easy, quick and delicious recipes check out my other dishes.
