MASALA IDLI



Idlis are a staple South Indian dish. But sometimes they can be a little boring. Masala idli adds a nice twist to the traditional dish, making it very enjoyable. Moreover, leftover idlis harden when kept in the fridge. But fret not, because this masala idli is the perfect dish that can be made with leftover idlis. They will be enjoyed by people of all ages and at the same time we are able to incorporate vegetables into our simple meal of idli.



Masala Idli
It is great snack item for everyone and healthy also
Ingredients
- 16 Idlis
- 2 Medium sized Onions finely chopped
- 2 Tomato finely chopped
- 1 Capsicum finely chopped
- 1/2 Cup Boiled Sweet corn
- 1 tsp Jeera
- 1 inch Ginger
- 1 tsp Red chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp Garam masala powder or pav bhaji masala
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- Coriander leaves finely chopped
- 2 to 3 tsp Oil
Instructions
- Cut the idlis into small pieces and keep it aside
- In a kadai in medium flame add oil
- Add jeera and allow it to splutter
- Add onions and saute it till onion becomes translucent
- Add ginger and saute it till the raw smell goes
- Add chilli powder and turmeric powder and keep on stirring it till the raw smell of chilli powder goes
- Add capsicum and saute till it is half cooked
- Add tomatoes
- Add salt and cook till the tomatoes turn mushy
- Add sweet corn and little water
- Mix all the ingredients and add garam masala powder and cook in medium flame for 3 to 4 minutes
- Now add the idli pieces and mix it thoroughly
- Switch off the stove and serve it hot along with tomato ketchup
Notes
- Use vegetables and spices according to the number of idlis.
- You can even add grated carrots, boiled peanuts or chickpeas
