This is a one of the varients of idly. Nice substitute when you don’t want to have rice but want to have idlys. Goes well with Chutney, Sambhar and Gun powder. This is a healthy breakfast dish.

Materials

  • 1 Cup Urad dal
  • 1 Cup Split Moong Dal
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • Take 1 cup urad dal.

  • Take 1 cup moong dal.
  • Wash and soak both together for 4 to 5 hours.

  • Grind them to normal idly batter consistency. Add salt and allow it to ferment for 8 hours or overnight. Now the batter is ready.

  • Grease the idli plates. Pour the batter and steam it in a pressure cooker for 15 minutes.

  • Switch off the stove and wait for two minutes. Remove the idly from the plates. Serve it along with chutney, sambhar and gun powder.
